There are many types of cancer, and they all demand a great deal of research. Some of the more common and fatal ones have had charities set up expressly for them. Then, some charities accept donations in general that are used for several different purposes throughout Canada.
Most Common Types of Cancer in Canada
Although Canada, like many other countries, deals with many different types of cancers, the ones that are the most prevalent are:

While some are more specific to gender, breast cancer is something that also strikes some men. These four types of cancer make up about half of the cancer cases throughout Canada. For women, breast cancer equates to 25% of the common cancers. For men, prostate cancer comes in at 20%. Lung cancer, which strikes both
genders, makes up 14%, and colorectal cancer, which also strikes men and women, is 12%.
Charities
Canada is fortunate to have many different charities that focus on several kinds of cancer. For those who want to support the fight against cancer in general, there are many opportunities to do this. There is the Canadian Cancer Society or the Princess Margaret Hospital, to name a couple of many.
Some of those that are cancer-specific are:
* For Lung Cancer: Lung Cancer, Canada. Their mandate is the provision of information and creating public awareness. Lung Health Foundation: This is dedicated to research for lung cancer.
* For Breast Cancer: There is the BCFR, which focuses on breast cancer research. Another one dedicated to research is BSCR.
* For Colorectal Cancer: Colorectal Cancer Canada. This is a not-for-profit organization that puts a heavy emphasis on awareness.
* Prostate Cancer: Prostate Cancer Canada. As the name implies, this is a charity that is passionate about beating this form of cancer.
General Charities
In many cases, those making donations to a cancer charity will pick the one they can relate to the most. For example, suppose they are a breast cancer survivor. In that case, that will spur them into supporting charities focusing on this particular cancer
